The Department of Psychological Sciences aims to upgrade the research potentials in advanced and specialised research in the various fields of the psychological sciences (child’s mental health, psychological and educational measurement of children, child’s psychology, and all aspects of special needs). It supports advanced research that is currently unavailable in the field. It also follows the guidelines of quality and accreditation in the field of scientific research, in general, and copes with global development and urgent issues in the field of child psychology. Therefore, the department is committed to fulfil the suggested plan in creating the strategies and scientific plan.

• Studies in the field of child’s mental health, social psychology, and psychological counselling for children.
• Studies in the various specialties of disabilities (visual impairment, hearing impairment, sensory disabilities, communication disorders, behavioural disorders, emotional disorders, autism, language and speech disorders, gifted and special needs).
• Early Intervention for people with special needs.
• Studies in the field of clinical psychology and case studies.
• Psychological counseling for parents and teachers to provide care for normal and abnormal children.
• Considering the childhood field and disabilities through (issues of community preparation, early detection of disabilities, early intervention for disabilities, language development, neurolinguistic programs).
• Issues of integrating disabled children in schools, public educational institutions, and ministries that consider the childhood field.
• Psychometrics and psychological tests for children.
• Modern technical therapy for children with learning difficulties.
• Case studies of children at risk (abuse, neglect, violence, broken families).
